What the site collects, what it doesn't, and your choices.

Who we are
This policy covers openmybizbystate.com ("OpenMyBiz by State," "we," "us"). Questions: hello@openmybizbystate.com.
What we collect
Information saved in your browser. When you check off steps or choose a state, business type or other settings, the site saves those choices in your browser's local storage so they're there when you come back. This stays on your device. We don't receive it, and it isn't shared across your devices. You can clear it any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Information you send us. If you email us, or sign up for an email list or download when one is offered, we receive what you give us (such as your email address) and use it only for that purpose, such as sending the file or updates you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Technical information. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We may use privacy-focused analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. We don't use this to identify you.
Fonts. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
Advertising and cookies
We may show ads, including through Google AdSense. If we do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.

Where the law requires it, we'll ask for your consent before ad cookies are used.
Referral links
Some links go to partner services. When you click one, the partner may use a cookie or tracking link to record that you came from us so we can be credited. We don't receive your personal information from that click. See the Referral Disclosure.
Links to other websites
Most links on this site go to government agencies and other websites we don't control. Their privacy policies apply once you leave our site.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information for money.
- We don't ask for Social Security numbers, tax IDs, or financial account details. Never enter those on any page that isn't an official agency site.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California, Virginia, Colorado or other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for targeted advertising. To make a request, email hello@openmybizbystate.com. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Children
This site is for adults starting or running a business. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
How long we keep information
We keep emails and sign-up information only as long as needed for the purpose you gave it for, or until you ask us to delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
